When my daughter first began showing signs of Anxiety one of my best defenses was arming myself with books geared toward children's anxiety. Although she could not read them, I would, and I would give her the information in a way she could understand. For example, "Mr.Worry", was a little bug that lived in her brain causing her to worry about things. This became our foundation for treating her anxiety therapeutically. I would tell her a story about a little girl JUST like her who had a Mr. Worry, too. Through these stories we would learn ways the little girl learned to get rid of Mr.Worry and my daughter soon learned she could get rid of him, too!

A great book we started with is called,What to Do When You Worry Too Much: A Kid's Guide to Overcoming Anxiety (What to Do Guides for Kids) It's perfect for young readers but parents can also read it to younger children who cannot read yet.

Now my daughter is reading, we keep it with us during flare ups. She will read it in the car or even keep it in her backpack at school. Books can be very empowering tools for Children! Here are some other books that  may be helpful:
